Check out an article featuring PRONTO’s simulation training on Makerere University’s webpage! University of California San Francisco, Makerere University School of Public Health, and PRONTO partnered to implement the Preterm Birth Initiative (PTBi), a project funded by the Gates Foundation aimed at reducing morbidity and mortality from preterm birth in East Africa. For this project, PRONTO developed a facility-based simulation and team-training mentoring curriculum that focuses on identifying, triaging, and managing preterm labour and birth, and caring for preterm infants.
In the article, midwife Nancy Tibejuba explains the impact PRONTO training has had on her confidence and skills as a midwife. Reflecting on PRONTO simulation training, Nancy said “Pronto helped me learn how to manage obstetric emergencies like preeclampsia, eclampsia, post-partum haemorrhage, and preterm labour. By the time the doctor comes I will have done some substantial work.”
